TAMPA, Fla. - Andre Waters, a hard-hitting safety who spent most of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday. He was 44.
Andre's former head coach with the Eagles, Buddy Ryan, was on the local Philadelphia media today saying that he talked with Andre a week or so ago and said he was in good spirits and they were laughing together about things. So sad . . .
tragic, damn.
i'll remember waters as one of the dirtiest players of his time. his death exposes the complexity of a man, the kind of complexity we rarely see on the field. another football fan feeling guilty today: me.
RIP, andre.
