What is the best part of Festivus?

1. The Aluminum Pole

In addition to having a very high strength-to-weight ratio, it's the perfect anti-materialistic symbol, besides I find tinsel distracting.

2. Airing of Grievances

It's good to get things off your chest by letting everyone know how much they have DISAPPOINTED YOU throughout the year. "I got a lot of problems with you people, and now you're gonna hear about it!"

3. Feats of Strength

Festivus is never over until the host is pinned.

4. The Festivus Miracle

Not really an official part of Festivus but there always seems to be something that rings true as a Festivus Miracle, whether it's unexpectantly seeing an old friend or sneaking through an express check-out line with an extra item or two.

Festivus, a holiday for the rest of us!

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I voted The Aluminum Pole, it just seems to capture the wackiness of Festivus.

In my circle of family and friends, it is The Airing of Grievances that holds the true value of Festivus. In fact, on my husband's side of the family, The Airing of Grievances is held in such high regard, it is practiced all year round!
