The second rule of baby food

I posted a while ago about the first rule of baby food.

The first rule of baby food, in short, is "there's no such thing as baby food." Babies can, with few exceptions, eat the same food as their parents. This is the easy rule.

The second rule of baby food is ten times harder, even though it basically tells you not to do anything.

This is OK if you don't mind being at the beck and call of your little cherub every hour of the day.
In our household, we take the attitude that, if someone has been gracious enough to prepare food for you, you eat it.

If you don't want to eat it, well, you just have to wait until the next mealtime...

We do let our kids eat snacks during the day and we're pretty happy for them to eat whatever healthy stuff they like, but once it's there- please eat it.

Thanks for the seed, mydree!

If you look across the table, see a 20-pound kid, and think, "Oh, I can totally win this," you may as well be saying, "Look at that small country in Asia. I could totally win a little war there."

That's hilarious to me now my son is away from home and has to feed himself.

Tamh, I probably wasn't clear: I meant that if the kid decides not to eat, that's it until the next meal (where "meal" includes snacks). Like I said, you decide when to to eat.

Yes! I think I must have skimmed over that bit- Duh!
Makes more sense to have you in control. I couldn't stand the thought of making food, only to have my child not eat it and then ask for something else 15 minutes later.
Thanks for the clarification :)
