A good bit of information is coming from the Doctor Who camp about the upcoming third series (what we call season here in the colonies). First off, the show will premiere in March in the UK and in the fall here in the US, most likely on SciFi Channel.

From the article:
Well, they'll meet up with William Shakespeare, confront witches and vampires, battle a Dalek invasion in 1930's Manhattan, and reunite with Captain Jack Harkness. In other words, the usual.
My guess is that Capt. Jack Harkness appears in the season (series) premiere of in March. In the season finale of Torchwood the episode ends with Harkness reminiscing about the doctor then you hear the whir of the TARDIS engines, camera cuts away to another character, Hartness is gone.
I like Harkness recurring in Doctor Who, but I hope they keep the Doctor out of Torchwood. Something just wouldn't seem right about it.

Outpost Gallifrey has John Barrowman coming in at episode 11 titled Utopia, and staying through the yet untitled episodes 12 and 13. I was kind of thinking they'd save Jack for a series (season) finale rather than bringing him in right off the top.
It seems that the reunion could be decidedly less cheery than the way they were in season one.
That's my thought too. Though Jack did have a big ol' smile on his face at the end...

Is Torchwood available in the colonies yet?

I'll definitely have to download it. Hmm...BitTorrent to the rescue?

Torchwood is certainly geared towards more mature audiences, adult situations, ect, while The Adventures of Sarah Jane Smith (the most recent spin-off) is geared toward younger (pre-teen?) audiences.
Of course, neither are as good as Doctor Who, but certainly suitable spin-offs for their intended audience.

I watched a bit of the first episode of The Adventures of Sara Jane Smith, and will not watch another. It is definitely geared towards a waaaay younger audience, rather than simply a family audience.
I enjoyed Torchwood, but it really took awhile to grow on me... and really, it's just not there yet. Will have to see what season 2 brings before I'm completely sold on it.

Thank you for the update. We watched Doctor Who in the 80's on PBS (years and years after the original broadcasts), but they ran out of funding (?) or something before they aired the entire series, so I've not even seen the last couple of seasons of the previous series. I'm just now seeing the first season of the new Doctor Who series, so I maybe shouldn't be on this thread because of possible spoilers, but I saw the title and couldn't resist. :)
I'll also check out Torchwood as soon as I can. (Thanks, again!)
On Park Entertainment's site there's a synopsis for a new K9 series. Does anyone have more information about this? Thanks.

Agreed. Definitely not the K-9 I wanted to pat on the head when I was a kid. But I'll watch it if/when I get a chance.

My local PBS station stopped carrying Doctor Who right after the Colin Baker episodes began, so I'm fortunate to have seen most of them from Pertwee through Davison. If my wife wouldn't kill me, I'd build a classic Who collection, but she hates the original shows with a passion. She does like the new iteration of the show though.
