George Clooney bringing cyberpunk classic The Diamond Age to Sci Fi Channel - TCA Report

Sci Fi announced that George Clooney will be part of the creative team bringing the retro cyberpunk book The 'Diamond Age' to the channel. Neal Stephenson will adapt the miniseries from his novel, which I'll basically sum up as the adventures a young girl goes through as she comes into the possession of a talking "smartbook." Clooney and partner Grant Heslov will executive produce.

I loved this book, but I don't see it translating very well to any type of film: much of the "action" was internal to the characters. However, I think the setting WILL translate really well with high quality CGI, and maybe this is what Clooney wants to emphasize.

I wonder how Stephenson will handle the synergistic orgy scenes?

...and the ending, the ending was appropriate and satisfying for the novel, but I think it will leave a tv audience flat and disappointed, hmmm.
