- NFC Divisional Play-off Game -
8:00 pm ET Saturday, Fox.
Saints favored by 5 points.
Over / Under 49 points.
The football pundits think that this will be a high scoring game and that whichever side plays better defense will win. The Eagles are without their Pro Bowl CB Lito Sheppard who dislocated an elbow last week.
If either team (or both) can establish the run then look for some big gains from play-action plays later in the game. The Saints will have DT Hollis Thomas back who was good against the run before he was suspended for using performance enhancing drugs.
In any close, big game these are often the difference. Both teams have not been turning the ball over that much so a single interception or fumble could go a long way in determining the winner. Eagles place kicker David Akers has made just 9 of 15 field goal attempts inside domes.
Once the teams get inside the opponents 20 yard line do they score touchdowns or settle for field goals? If one side settles for one too many field goals then that could be difference in the game.
In their winning streak, the Eagles have been getting ahead early in games. However if they fall behind by 10 or 14 points then how do they react? Do they panic and just start throwing the ball willy-nilly or do they keep trying to establish the run?
The Eagles played in New Orleans in Week 6 of the regular season and lost 27-24. They fell behind early and were losing 21-3 at half-time.
I'm sad to see the Eagles and the firey Garcia go home, but the Saints story is a good one too!
Will the Saints march into Soldier field? Or will the stumbling Seahawks wobble to the Big Easy?
