Abolition of draws will reportedly be discussed at a board meeting today.

The Football League board is to consider controversial proposals to decide all drawn games with penalty shoot-outs, according to reports.

Chairmen and chief executives are set to discuss the idea - which was backed by a number of supporters in the recent Football League Fans Survey - at a board meeting today, though it is unclear at this stage which clubs are backing the change. According to the BBC, the board will consider the alternative options of both a regular penalty shoot-out or a system whereby players would each have eight seconds to score from the halfway line.

Football League 'considers' penalty option

Is this due to the increased number of Premier League clubs with American owners?

Wouldn't be surprised Mydree.

I hate the idea. While everyone likes to see a result I would much rather have a hard fought draw than a match decided by penalty shoots outs.

I agree. A shoot-out after a hard fought draw is anti-climatic.

stupidest idea every. have these chairman really got nothing better to do than sit around discussing stupid plans like this?

The perfect game of football is about the no score draw. neither team has made a significant mistake, both have defended well and used their chances when they've had them.

What about the poor traveling fans on a weeknight game who have to get back to the other end of the country. some just won't get home because some daft ejit chairman decided that it would be 'more exciting' to have penalties to decide a result.

The fun of football is talking about the game afterwards, the thrills of the goals or the 'bore draw' THAT'S what football is about.

the Chairmen/women of these clubs need to give their heads a shake and get a grip.
