Takeo Spikes is now an Eagle.

Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles have been clamoring for an impact linebacker, is Takeo Spikes up to the task?

Ron Jaworski and Sal Paolantonio were both on Philadelphia media saying that Takeo Spikes is an impact player and that this is a good trade for the Eagles. However a sports talk show host from Buffalo said that Spikes must be done for the Bills to trade him like this. So is this a good deal for the Eagles?

Why would the Bills make the trade if Spikes is still an impact player? The thinking is that they need the cap space just to sign draft picks.

Quick Facts About Takeo Spikes

  • Played college at Auburn, 136 tackles senior year (1997).
  • Previous teams: Bengals ('98-'02) & Bills ('03-'06).

  • 2005 ruptured Achilles tendon, only played 3 games.
  • 2006 missed 4 games with a hamstring injury.
  • Nickname: TKO, The Knock Out.
  • Named after Japan's 66th Prime Minister Takeo Miki.
  • He's now dating T-Boz of TLC.

Spikes is not the dominant player he once was. As you said somewhere else, the DT from the Colts may have the bigger defensive impact. However, I think Spikes plays a key role for the Eagles, and I actually thinking getting a QB with starting experience will be a good thing with Donovan's recovery in progress.
