Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Is this a good thing for Feedburner users?

As a feedburner user, I don't think so... but Google are now the authority on the web and there's nothing we can do about it.

As each day passes I do hope that Microsoft and Yahoo! buddy up and take a chunk off Google.

I think this is a real shame. I thought/think Feedburner is fanatastic in it's current form. I fear that it's sale to Google will see some changes to it that are not necessarily for the better.

if anyone is interested in the how start-ups are sold, i have a business blog and recently posted an article about it. it's an external link (sorry for the shameless self-promotion) you can see HERE.

as far as this deal itself is concerned, i actually think it will be pretty good. Google is much better equipped to further develop RSS technology with its gobs of cash than FeedBurner alone would be able to do.
