This past weekend the Philadelphia Eagles started their training camp with rookies and select veterans. Not much happened in those four work-out sessions but Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid did hold press conferences.
Saturday Donovan McNabb, still re-habing his right ACL, said in his press conference that his knee is 75%. He will wear a knee brace during camp and he may wear it during the season if it does not hamper his play. He expects to play in several exhibition games and to be the starting quarterback on opening day of the regular season. Donovan was held out of Sunday's indoor practice. Coach Reid said the field was too slick and he did not want to risk McNabb's knee on it. Really? Or was there swelling in that knee?
At his press conference, Andy Reid did not say much about football. He said that he will not talk about his sons and their legal issues. This ban will extend through the entire regular season and Reid expects the reporters to "hold up their end of the bargain." I'm not sure that the media have a 'bargain' with Reid but if the legal proceedings of his sons interfere with the Eagles then there will be legitimate questions that some reporter better ask. For example, if Coach Reid misses a day or two of camp to be at a trial then somebody better bring it up. The head coach missing camp will certainly have an affect on the team.
