David Beckham (left) gets in Jesse Marsch's face after being kicked in the stomach.
Chivas USA F Maykel Galindo scored 2 goals.
Once again the Los Angeles Galaxy did not look like a play-off team. They were unorganized on defense and ineffective on offense. David Beckham played the entire game. Cobi Jones started and was substituted for Landon Donovan.
The first half was largely uneventful but Chivas had the better scoring chances and never really looked like they would be scored upon. Two red cards were handed out just before half time. Chivas M Jesse Marsch kicked David Beckham in the stomach from behind him. Becks naturally took offense to this and he quickly got in Marsch's face as both teams gathered around them. Then for some reason Chivas D Alex Zotinca head butted Galaxy M Kevin Harmse, both were ejected from the game.
With both sides down to ten men in the second half, Chivas F Maykel Galindo (58', 69') went to work. His first goal was the result of a mistake by Galaxy D Kyle Veris. Both players were chasing the ball in the 18 yard area, Veris was just ahead of Galindo as the ball bounced high. Veris instead of just kicking the ball clear tried to control it but the ball bounced off of him and down to Galindo's feet. While this was going on, Galaxy GK Joe Cannon came off his line to help but Galindo was able to shoot the ball past him and into the back of the net.
Just after the first Chivas goal, Cobi Jones was substituted for Landon Donovan, it did not improve the Galaxy's play. Maykel Galindo's second goal showed off his speed and touch. His speed got him behind the Galaxy defenders as he received the ball just inside the penalty area. Again Galaxy GK Joe Cannon came off his line and Galinda just rolled the ball by him, no hard shot was necessary.
Francisco Mendoza's (88') goal showed just how out of sorts the Galaxy had become. Chivas had a numerical advantage on Los Angeles in the 18 yard box and looked like they were just toying with the Galaxy. There were three passes or so and it was just a matter of who would score for Chivas. The ball was passed to Mendoza who was all alone on the left, he easily put the ball into goal.
With the loss, the Los Angeles Galaxy (14 pts.) remain eleven points behind the Columbus Crew and the last play-off spot. The Galaxy have four games in hand but they have got to start winning them. Los Angeles travel to play Colorado (24 pts.) this Sunday, a win would be a step in the direction of the play-offs.

Chivas USA v DC United
10:00pm ET, ESPN 2
My ever-neglected fantasy team has Emilio and Galindo as forwards. At least I can pick 2 out of 11 okay. I've really liked seeing the both of them play this year.
That's part of the reason why I've neglected my team. ;)
Galindo has been one of the surprises this season, I seeded two USA Today articles on him regarding this season and his defection. Nice to see things are working out for him.
