Premier League Saturday Results

Bolton won their first match of the season. Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea also won. Chelsea now sit on top of the table. Sunday Manchester United play Tottenham.

Sunderland 0 - 2 Liverpool
Sunderland gave Liverpool a good match, the game was closer than the score would indicate. Mohamed Sissoko (37') scored in the first half but Liverpool did not notch their second goal until Andriy Voronin (87') scored just before then end of the game.

Arsenal 1 - 0 Manchester City
Arsenal were the better team for most of the match but City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel kept them in the game. Robin Van Persie missed a penalty kick in the second half before Francesc Fabregas (80') netted a goal for the Gunners.

Aston Villa 2 - 1 Fulham
The Cottagers took an early lead with a goal by American Clint Dempsey (6') but an own goal by Zat Knight (51') leveled the score. Shaun Maloney (90') got the points for Villa with a late goal after Chris Baird (rc 68') was sent off for Fulham.

Bolton 3 - 0 Reading
Three goals by Gary Speed (32'), Nicolas Anelka (55') and Daniel Braaten (90') and a clean sheet earned the three points for Bolton.

Chelsea 1 - 0 Portsmouth
Chelsea played just well enough to win. Frank Lampard's (31') first half goal was the lone score of the match.

Derby 1 - 2 Birmingham
Cameron Jerome (1', 63') scored early and again in the second half to get the win for Birmingham. Matt Oakley (51') scored for Derby just after the break.

West Ham 1 - 1 Wigan
Late goals by each side result in a draw. Paul Scharner (78') scored for Wigan and Lee Bowyer (81') for West Ham.

Everton 1 - 1 Blackburn
Roque Santa Cruz (15') scored early for the Rovers and James McFadden (78') scored late for Everton.

Thanks for the EPL rundown. Much appreciated. I wish the Villa v. Fulham link was still good. I would have liked to see Dempsey's goal.
