Now you see it, now you don't. Eagles long snapper Jon Dorenbos could make the team's season disappear.
The Jets won this boring pre-season game 13-11 but more importantly Eagles back-up QB A.J. Feeley broke his hand and Eagles long snapper Jon Dorenbos stunk up the place.
Early in the second quarter Feeley broke his hand on a sack, he is expected to have an MRI today. I expect him to miss 4 to 6 weeks. This means that Feeley would not be available to back-up Donovan McNabb for the first few weeks of the season, which means that rookie QB Kevin Kolb would be the second string QB to start the season.
The Eagles back-up quarterback situation does not bother me so much as the special teams. Last night the mistakes of the Eagles long snapper were on display for all to see. LS Jon Dorenbos was consistently bad. On the first drive, he cost the Eagles a field goal with a low snap. His snaps to the punters were also spotty. Jon Dorenbos likes to do card tricks in the locker room, his bad snaps just may make the Eagles season disappear. Imagine a season where every field goal and every punt is an adventure because the long snapper is erratic at best. Do you think a team with a long snapper like that can win the Super Bowl?
Update: Friday Aug. 31, 2007 A.J. Feeley had a pin inserted to help his hand heal, he's expected to be out about 4 weeks.
