Chivas USA 3 - 0 LA Galaxy

Ante Razov's goal mid-way through the first half was the game winner for Chivas USA as the Los Angeles Galaxy never really threatened to score in the game. Two late goals iced the match for Chivas.

Chivas USA dominated play from the very beginning of the match. Ante Razov (23') scored after putting a move on Galaxy defender Abel Xavier. They were on the right-hand side of the goal about ten yards out and Razov faked out Xavier then struck a right-footed shot that went off the far post and into the goal. The half ended with Chivas in control and the Galaxy without a shot on goal.

The second half continued much the same way. Chivas dictated the pace of the match with their one and two touch play. Every so often the Galaxy would manage a mad dash counter attack but they never had sustained pressure on Chivas. Francisco Mendoza (88'), Chivas midfielder, ended all hope for the Galaxy when he scored a late goal. Then in stoppage time the Galaxy handed Chivas another goal. Los Angeles tried to clear the ball from their area but the ball was a near perfect pass to Laurent Merlin (91+) who quickly controlled the ball and shot it into the back of the net.

With the win Chivas USA won their first Super Classico with a season record of 2-1-1 over the Galaxy. The win also moves Chivas into first place in the Western conference. They have 43 points which is one more than Houston, who are in second place. Chivas has two games in hand over Houston. The Galaxy are now 12 points from a play-off spot and they are running out of games in hand. They have played just two fewer games than Chicago who are sitting in the final play-off spot.

If the season ended today then both
sides would qualify for the play-offs so
this should be a good game.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

The Galaxy continue to look horrible.
How can a team the league rigged to be good lok so bad?

It's the MLS. How good can it look? The MLS did this early on with DC United, when the league started and they wanted to have one "powerhouse" team. But there are more teams now, the talent is spread around a bit more, not as easy as it was before.

Cheers,
P9

How good can it look?

For a start the Galaxy could string three or so passes together.
