Mydree's NFL Pick, Week 4

advertisement

After last week's push I am still down ten imaginary dollars for the season. Once again this weekend I will try and get back into the black.

This Week's Pick:
Houston Texans -3 over the Atlanta Falcons.

The 2-1 Texans are not a great team but the 0-3 Falcons are real bad. Atlanta was at the bottom of several power rankings that I saw this week while Houston is right in the middle of many NFL power rankings.

Also Texans QB Matt Schaub was traded from the Falcons to the Texans and I bet he would really like to show them what they passed up on.

Shaub's Stats: 75.9 completion %, 4 TDs, 3 INTs, sacked just 5 times in 3 games and he has a QB rating of 100.9.

So, the Texans it is. Check back Monday morning for a full accounting of my weekly NFL picks. Check out my current update to see where I stand right now.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

What do you think of my pick?
Did I miss one that you think is better?

From this point on, any game the Buffalo Bills play. They are last in the league in both offense and defense and have numerous injuries to key starters. They are also starting a rookie quarterback for the next few weeks, and even when JP Losman comes back, he is still JP Losman ;-)

Though Atlanta is pretty damn bad themselves...

If Atlanta ever figures out that Norwood should be the starter, they will be a slightly less bad team.

Norwood: 20 carries, 95 yards (4.8 average), 6 rec, 71 yards (11.8 average)

Dunn: 46 carries, 160 yards (3.5 average), 9 receptions, 43 yards (4.8 average)

Norwood is clearly the more dynamic back. Every time they give Dunn a breather, Norwood comes in and moves the chains. He's also *much* better catching balls out of the backfield and is a threat to break a long one every time he touches the ball.

The only problem with that is that there is little guarantee that Norwood would be as effect playing more downs. It's not just the added rushes, but also just being on the field to pass block and run routs when he isn't targeted. That tires a runner out.

It's easier to rush for a good average when you can come in fresh all the time. That's why last year Michael Turner had something like 6 yards per rush, but he still wasn't better than Tomlinson.

This isn't to say that Norwood isn't better than Dunn, just don't expect that production to translate to a starting role so perfectly.
