McNabb uncertain of return to Eagles

advertisement

The coach has said it about a thousand times. The owner has said it. The team president went on the radio and said it to a huge audience.

It doesn't matter. Donovan McNabb still doesn't sound convinced the Eagles are going to keep him.

"I try not to even focus on that," he said. "The only thing I can really focus on is the present time. Anything that may happen later on down the road, it's really out of my control.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

The story and debate that just won't go away. Will McNabb be back next season with the Eagles and should he be back?

Philly is a tough market to play in. I would take him back but I could see that maybe this whole Reid/McNabb era has run its course.

The average NFL career is 3.8 years. McNabb has exceeded that. At 31, he is old for a professional athlete. Joe Namath was forced to retire at 34, he should have 3 years earlier. He has peaked in his performance. He was good but never great.

Not that I am a fan or defending Namath but wasn't his career made shorter due to knee problems? He's also in the Hall of Fame with more INTs than TDs I think.
