Monday

Canterbury's Law, Pilot. 8:00pm, Fox.
Debut: Julianna Margulies stars as a maverick defense lawyer who plays by her own rules to help the falsely accused. In the opener, Elizabeth Canterbury (Margulies) believes her client is innocent in the murder of a child, and clashes with her partner, Russell (Ben Shenkman), over the best way to prove it. Williams: Terry Kinney. Denis Leary is one of the show's executive producers.

New Adventures of Old Christine, New Adventures of Old Christine. 8:30pm, CBS.
Christine reluctantly goes out on a blind date set up by new Christine, and is shocked when she is introduced to the man, since he is much younger than she is. But her resistance quickly melts when he begins complimenting her and suggests they sleep together.

October Road, The Fine Art of Surfacing/As Soon As You Are Able. 9:00pm, ABC.
In the second-season finale, Eddie's ex-girlfriend Rory (Stacy Keibler)---who broke his heart years ago---shows up in Knightsridge to reconnect with him, causing problems in his relationship with Janet. Meanwhile, Hannah is arrested for assaulting Ray's ex-wife, which could jeopardize her engagement to Ray; Nick is offered a great job, which would take him away from Knightsridge and his ailing father; and a previous action by a member of the gang leads to a violent confrontation. 2 hrs.

New Amsterdam, Soldier's Heart. 9:00pm, Fox.
Skeptical of a confession by a homeless Gulf War veteran (Orlando Jones) who says he murdered a psychiatrist, Amsterdam probes the doctor's own research for clues about the killing.

Cities of the Underworld, Maya Undgeround. 9:00pm, History Channel.
Host and explorer Don Wildman goes inside the ritualistic world of the Mayans as he examines the tombs, altars and caves that remain throughout Belize and that tell of the civilization's beliefs in a vicious underworld and powerful gods.

New Adventures of Old Christine, House. 9:30pm, CBS.
Christine tries to feel happy for Richard and new Christine when she learns they bought the house she has long dreamed of living in.

Medium, Burn Baby Burn. 10:00pm, NBC.
Part 1 of 2. Joe's mother (Kathy Baker) pays a visit to the DuBois family---but she comes revealing a secret only to Allison. Elsewhere, the heat is on when Allison investigates an arson-murder case; and private investigator Cynthia Keener (Anjelica Huston) seeks Allison's help with open cases.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, Into the Fire. 10:00pm, Travel Channel.
Tony takes up a challenge to return to the Brasserie Les Halles to work his old Tuesday double shift, offering a behind-the-kitchen-door look at the working of a restaurant.

Paranormal State, Freshman Fear. 10:00pm, A&E.
Ryan initiates an investigation to determine if a youthful girl college student is actually beset by phantoms in her dorm room, or if the manifestations are merely signs of stress caused by separation from familiar surrounds, family and friends. Note: another episode follows at 10:30pm.

Jim takes advantage of Cheryl's recent memory lapses to build a testosterone-fueled den in the basement instead of his promised playroom for the kids.

The Power of Veto competition is held.

One Tree Hill, You're Gonna Need Someone on Your Side. 9:00pm, CW.
On the eve of their impending nuptials, Lucas and Lindsey try to help a couple who are facing problems. Meanwhile, three old faces return to town, among them Rachel; and Brooke has to deal with Victoria.

The Universe, Colonizing Space. 9:00pm, History Channel.
With the help of computer animation, scientists can examine three-dimensional images of how a human colony in space would look; scientists continue to explore ways in which life outside of Earth would be possible, including growing food in space.

Jericho, Termination for Cause. 10:00pm, CBS.
Jake and the Rangers battle against Goetz (D.B. Sweeney) and Ravenwood, and one of the Rangers takes a drastic course of action.

A Cook's Tour, Eating on the Mekong. 10:30pm, Food Network.
Tony and his friend Philippe LaJeunie travel the Vietnamese river for the fresh bread and coffee made there, then enjoy a duck feast with bird's nest soup. (repeat)

The detectives connect a woman's brutal slaying to a dogfighting ring and a wealthy wine dealer. Lara Flynn Boyle guest stars as a resourceful reporter tracking the case.

Men in Trees, Home, Seized Home. 10:00pm, ABC.
Marin and Jack decide to move in together. Just about everybody in Elmo thinks it's a bad idea, but Cash (who moves into Jack's house) has a word of advice. Meanwhile, Theresa has a surprise for Ben; and Buzz gives Patrick a flying lesson. And in New York, Sam looks for a job while Jane sends their wedding notice to the New York Times.

South Park, New Season Starts! 10:00pm, Comedy Central.
The 12th season begins.

Lewis Black's Root of All Evil, Oprah vs. The Catholic Church. 10:30pm, Comedy Central.
Debut: Lewis Black moderates a debate between two comics, who each claim their entity is more evil. First up: Paul F. Tompkins argues for Oprah Winfrey and Greg Giraldo takes the side of the Catholic Church.

Debut: Sarah, a single children's book editor (Parker Posey), reconnects with her slacker sister, Coco (Lauren Ambrose), in this comedy. First up: Sarah wants to have a baby but is unable to conceive, so she asks younger sis Coco to carry her child. Amy Sherman-Palladino ("Roseanne," "Gilmore Girls") is the director and an executive producer. Note: another new episode airs at 8:30pm.

Price Is Right Million Dollar Spectacular, special, 1 hr., 8:00pm, CBS.
