Tampering in the NFL is a lot like speeding on the interstate in that it's illegal, yet almost everyone does it because it's easy to get away with.
But earlier this week, the San Francisco 49ers ran right into a radar trap and got nailed.
Bam!
The judge, in this case NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, slapped the offenders with a hefty fine, ruling that they had indeed spoke to Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, without permission from the Bears. Since Briggs was still under contract with the Bears, the 49ers had no right to inquire about his services.
Why should the NFL change? It's making a ton of money, has no competition and fans don't seem to care about tampering.
