Well, this is just all kinds of disappointing, and a little surprising. Season five of Stargate Atlantis will be the end of its run on Sci Fi. That's a surprising bit of news considering that ratings are actually up for season five, compared to season four. Unfortunately, the economics of making the show are catching up with it. As the show goes beyond season five, salaries go up, and the exchange rate bonus of shooting in Canada isn't what it once was.
This is sad news Michael. Isn't there anything that can be done. I haven't seen all seasons of the show but have the privilege of admitting that I once watched 11 episodes in one day. It is a really good show.

I'm sure fans will organize to try and save the show but I haven't come across a web site yet.
If anybody does come across a website, I would truly appreciate it if they sent me a link at: Jaoriprilj@hotmail.com
Sorry if this violates any of the TOS, but I love this show. :/
Sorry, I just seeded this. I didn't see it here until after.
Anyway, I agree that it is a good show: it's one of my favorites. Sad that it's being canceled but at least they're making some movies.
Son of a @!$%#.
I know. Just when I got comfortable with Ronin, Rodney, John and (sometimes "Y") Teyla, they yank the show away from me!
This same type of thing happened to me when I got into Lexx.
Why can't sci-fi shows filmed in and about Canada last? (Granted, Stargate SG-1 lasted 10 seasons, but still...)
Unless they converted it to digital format, ie. made for PC kind of deal, they could cut out the distribution costs, and open up a new frontier for 'intertainment'. I'm quite sure it is for the best though, the plot expanded so fast that they really need a new scene, I mean you'd think we'd seen enough of the replicators, but no they keep coming back.
Well, when the show started, 2 U.S. dollars would get you 3 Canadian dollars, so production in Canada was quite cheap. These days the Canadian dollar is almost at parity with the U.S. dollar, so production costs are much more expensive. Why go to Canada when it's only going to cost slightly more to do a show in the U.S.?
I've enjoyed the show during its run and I think my wife would agree that Atlantis was much more enjoyable than SG1 as SG1 wound down its final seasons.
