The issue of whether you should drink quality Scots whisky on its own, on the rocks or with a splash of water has divided drinkers the world over for generations.
In an attempt to settle the issue once and for all, master blender at the Isle of Jura distillery and widely recognised as the world's best whisky blender - and Colin Field, who as head barman at the Ritz Paris is arguably the best cocktail mixer in the world.
Well, I prefer just a wee bit o' water myself.
What is the best way to drink whisky?
Neat.
With your best friend.
Never with women.
Or anybody you don't trust with your life.
Always neat
I vary depending on mood. My usual is on the rocks, but I will drink it neat or with a splash of water.
Sour mash (Jack Daniels), fresh cracked bottle, straight, with ice water on the side.......
Really depends on how high my blood pressure is at the moment.... I'll either:
A. Shoot it, to spare myself the need to shoot someone.
B. Ice it, to slow me down, but still think of shooting someone.
C. Mix it in a soda, sip it slow, and just chill, because I haven't needed to shoot anyone all day.
geezLouise! remind me not to drink with you! *grinning my best grin*!
*Thinks of that first love affair with Jag*

Straight up.
and a ride.
best -
single malt scotch, neat, with a splash of water...
I just came from a seed about Obamas birth certificate - make mine a double, neat, and leave the bottle........
Well lads, if you're talking about a fine Scottish whisky, like Aberfeldy, ther's nooo way to be par'taking of it but "neat." You'll be warm from your lips to your toes.
I have cut Jack Daniels black with a bit of H20 or ice ... and Irish whisky ... well lets just say you can take a bath in it and lick the tub.
