Walt gets back home but finds that it will not be as warm and welcoming as it was before Skyler threw him out.
Skyler returns home to find Walt has managed to get in the house even though she changed the locks. (Walt got in using an old secret tunnel that he used for cooking meth.) Threatening to tell the authorities everything if Walt does not leave the house, Skyler calls the police.
The police officers arrive but they cannot do anything. Walt is an owner of the house and he has not abused Skyler in any way nor has he even done anything illegal. That is correct, Walt called her bluff and Skyler did not tell the police about his production of meth. The officers give Skyler information about marriage counseling before leaving and then Skyler quietly and reluctantly says to Walt "welcome home."
Walt's secret gets out ever so slightly more as Skyler tells her lawyer that he manufactured meth. The lawyer's advice is to "sue for divorce immediately," that it is a "no brainer." Skyler is reluctant to divorce Walt because she fears what it would do to Walt Junior, he would be devastated emotionally.
This is my one criticism of the story, Skyler has to know the violence associated with drugs and yet she does not divorce Walt? Why isn't she afraid of physical harm coming to her son? My only guess is that she thinks Walt will die of cancer soon enough and hopefully she can avoid any harm to her and her family.
As Skyler is leaving for work, Walt finally gets to explain to her why he cooked meth. Walt lays out a duffel bag full of cash and says that he did it all for her and the kids. The money is college and health care for the kids and mortgage money for the house. He asks that she accept the money or all that he has been through will have been for nothing. Walt asks her to think about it at work and to tell him her answer when she gets back home.
What is her answer? "I fucked Ted." Skyler had sex with a co-worker. I guess if she cannot get Walt out of the house or divorce him then she will make his life as miserable as possible.
This is just the beginning of problems for Walt. The Cousins want Walt dead for killing their cousin, a former rival drug dealer, but Gus seems to be holding them at bay for the moment. Gus was Walt's wholesaler and wants him to cook again. I also think Jesse, Walt's former partner, will come into play as well. Now that he is getting over the loss of his girlfriend, I think Jesse may blame Walt for her death - at least partially blame him.
What if Jesse helped to get Walt cooking again and then anonymously turned him into the police? Now that would complicate Walt's life and be a bit of revenge for Jesse.
Walt may have thought his problems were solved when he got back home but they are really just beginning.
